Recently, I had broken my “beloved” iPhone 8… After 5 years, it finally bit the bullet. Before going to the T-Mobile store, I wanted to take it to a repair shop to see if there was anything to fix it so I didn’t have to buy a new one. My wife and I ended up going to this little repair shop right in the middle of Slippery Rock. It was a very tiny shop that was covered in all kinds of different signs. These signs, ranged from ironic tech signs, anti-covid signs, to faithful signs. It was not long before the owner struck up a conversation with us as he was working on my phone. He asked where we were from and we said Grove City, which lead to the question of did we go to school there, which lead to why we chose it. After explaining to him that we chose it because of its faithful principles, the conversation got much deeper. He began to explain his life journey and how faith has always been deeply rooted in it. He told us that he has never been afraid to talk to his customers about faith and that more times than not, he straight up asks them if they believe in Jesus. He was extremely open in his faith and explaining it to everyone who walked through his door. With all this, he was also very good at what he does. Unfortunately for me, after taking my phone apart and testing it several times, he told me that my motherboard was fried so I ended up going to T-Mobile to get a new phone anyway.
This is great news, I actually went to a guy in Slippery Rock a number of years ago to get my phone fixed. The guy’s name was Greg so naturally I was cool giving him my business. I did not strike up a faith conversation with this guy and he might be completely different than who you are talking about, but this is good to hear that business owners are using their platform like this.
This is fascinating; I love that he had the opportunity to witness to people openly while doing business with them because it was his shop. This ability to be open is so attractive to me, which is one reason that I am considering either opening my own business or working within a Christian organization.
It sucks that your phone died but on the bright side you met an amazing guy! I love it when people are able to talk about their faith openly in the workplace. I feel like it creates a better environment for everyone and I feel like there is more trust as well. I tend to find people with a Christian mindset to be more trusting and that they work with a more ethical mindset.
