Wendy’s Supporting Children Through Adoption

Wendy’s is another Christian fast food restaurant, which has still maintained their values, though they show it in different ways from places like Chick-fil-a. From its founding by Dave Thomas in 1992, Wendy’s has always shown its faith through their well-known support of adoption, and those who do it. Dave Thomas himself was adopted, so this was always a personal matter to him, which inspired Wendy’s policies, and the Dave Thomas foundation for Adoption to get created. These policies support adoption in from multiple angles. Wendy’s has supported this cause through several of their fundraisers and programs which provide for them financially, and they offer jobs to adoption recruiters to help more children in need find a home. This displays their support for the children and other workers helping them, but the families adopting the children need support as well. With this in mind, they set up another policy to give their employees paid time off, if they adopt a child, so that they can have essential bonding time with their new child. Many times, people choose not to adopt because they feel like they can’t take care of a child who they know nothing about, so this simple policy helps the families to get to know the child, and better understand their needs as a person. All this displays the faith of Wendy’s, and the commitment to the cause, which a truly redemptive business should display. Supporting those in need, like children without families or homes, should come natural to Christians, and living by example is one of the best ways to help turn peoples hearts toward Christ, and towards the mission. The example set by Wendy’s should inspire all Christians to not just profess Christianity, but also to act on that faith, in such a way that the people around cannot deny the goodness of God’s kingdom at work.
