From the conversation with the special guest the other day, it reminded me of a redemptive entrepreneurship business in Charlotte called Beds for Kids. Similarly to the guest speaker, beds for kids are an organization that offers furniture and beds for families with low income. I have the opportunity to be friends with much of the staff through my church connections.
on one occasion, I had the opportunity to help out my friend Zach and bring a bed to a family in need. The way the family was so grateful was truly special and it really made me thankful for how little I have to worry about where my bed is coming from. The guest speaker not only resonated with me because of my experience with Beds for kids, but from the stories of appreciation that I hear. As my team moves forward with our redemptive opportunity and solution, I want to resonate on the kindness aspect that Professor Sweet was mentioning last class. This Kindness aspect of redemptive entrepreneurship is many times assumed with redemptive entrepreneurship, but it is crucial that we are putting extra effort into implementing kindness throughout our solutions and ideas.
The way we are able to impact these people with not only the physical goods we can provide them, but also through conversation and having an open ear. Something I have been realizing during my last year of school is simply how badly people want to be heard and sometimes the best way to get people comfortable is simply by listening to them. This is really the backbone of my groups idea as we by simply offering an open ear will show people the love of Christ. I am very thankful that we were able to hear from the guest speaker and I was able to make the connection with Beds for kids.
