Guide Spring

Founded in 2012, Guide Spring is a nonprofit organization based in Milton, Pennsylvania, that supports individuals, families, and communities through trauma-informed counseling, mentoring, and restorative practices. They are able to provide a range of help from counseling, journey groups, spiritual soul care, peacebuilding initiatives, and more.

But to me its not just a regular non-profit or counseling center, but it’s something that has been and is so near and dear to my heart. The reason for that is that I was able to watch my Uncle have this passion to listen and help heal people’s trauma and emotional battles. He left his job to follow this passion to make a real impact on so many people’s lives. He took the leap of faith and trusted that creating a non-profit was what he was supposed to do. Watching someone start a non-profit organization taught me that it can take a major toll on you as a person. That could be from the stress of trying to provide for your family or just keeping the business running. I have learned so much from my uncle through his journey of founding Guide Spring to helping my community.

As Guide Spring grew, it began to reach more and more people. The Lord began to open doors and opportunities for them to serve their community. The coolest and most powerful opportunity that the Lord gave them was the opportunity to reach Amish and Mennonite communities. Growing up in my area, it was quite unheard of for a member of the Amish or Mennonite church to go to therapy or counseling. They believed emotional struggles should be addressed within the family, the church, or with the bishop. Guide Spring has been able to gain the trust of many of those communities. Even being called to mediate conflicts within churches and between bishops in the Amish community.

This ministry has been able to reach into some of the most isolated and hidden pains of our region, offering steadfast compassion where few resources have existed. It has helped bring healing to individuals, families, and churches who might have suffered in silence. The impact has rippled throughout the area, building a massive community to serve those fighting trauma or past pains, restoring dignity and changing countless lives.
