The Mission Aviation Fellowship is a non-profit organization created to spread the word to places around the world that are experiencing extreme poverty and isolation. As this is a huge problem in the world, isolation and poverty most likely means that the people in these regions have not heard the Gospel. That is what Mission Aviation, MAF for short, is for. They believe that everyone in the world, isolated or not, deserve a chance to experience the love of Christ and his teachings. Aviation technology is taught throughout the organization due to the fact that many places, airplanes or helicopters are the only ways to reach the people.

MAF reaches the most difficult places, where people are completely cut off from the world and basic necessities for every day life. The pilots are specifically trained for maneuvering Cessna (small planes) and KODIAK (small planes made for landing on water) airplanes so that the MAF team can reach these people safely. These pilots can land planes on mountain sides, small clearings in jungles, and small rivers in remote areas. The people aboard the plane bring a multitude of necessities to the people living in these areas: doctors and medicine, disaster relief, education, evangelists, Bible translators, food, clean water, agriculture supplies, and plenty more.

The goal of MAF is to ultimately share the word of God. But they do this through modern technology. They adapt to ever changing technology so that they can help bring people to Christ in the best way possible. They use platforms such as VPN, emailing, and apps. They train not only regular people to share the word of God, but they train indigenous people and pastors to learn the technology to best spread the word of God throughout these regions. They train them in oral skills, communication skills and also give them IT training. Flight instruction and maintenance is also included in these trainings. MAF is working to change the world by spreading the Gospel, one small and remote area at a time. The word of God spreads like wildfire, and they are taking advantage of that by educating people that know very little about the love of Christ.

  • This is a great example of using technology in a God loving way. In todays world humans are facing many negatives with technologies, people are now more than ever disconnecting and falling away from Christ. What better way to spread the truth of God than to go to the hardest places to reach and use modern technology to help spread the world of God.
