Mardel — Educating Beyond Sunday School

Mardel Christian and Education Supply, or, Mardel for short, “offers books, Bibles, gifts, church and education supplies as well as homeschooling curriculum”. I first learned about the company through Hobby Lobby’s website and description of the story behind that company. Mardel’s mission statement in their own words is “to equip the whole person by being a resource center that provides for spiritual and intellectual needs”, with their theme verse accompanying the quote being Ephesians 4:12. The company’s revenue goes right back into Bibles, faith-based music and videos, seasonal products, and more. Mardel further states that “we faithfully give 10% of our net profits to help print Bibles translated by Wycliffe Bible Translators”. Currently they house 41 stores the central region of the United States (probably why this is the first I’m hearing of them). Looking across their website, they offer clothing on top of the educational and biblical resources they advertise up-front. More than 800 employees work for Mardel.

As someone moving out of college, I highly value companies which care about educating through a biblical worldview and providing a redemptive edge to their business model. Mardel is vastly more pronounced than a faith-based company need be, and the way they present themselves entices me even more to consider them as an educational resource, both for myself and my potential future family. Knowing that they faithfully support Biblical translation draws me into their mission even more, small though they may be.

  • I love how they have managed to provide Godly teaching through music, homeschooling curriculum, and all the Bibles they print as well. Instructing children in the Scriptures should be one of our highest goals, so that they may never know a day without God.
