Farmshelf

Farmshelf is an innovative business that is bringing farming indoors. People want to grow things themselves, but don’t have a way to do it. Farmshelf provides people with the tools to farm small scale inside. They focus on restaurants and getting chefs the best quality ingredients they can in house. It is much more cost effective doing anything yourself and not paying someone else to do it. They have 60 year-round varieties of foods to choose from that can be grown 2-3 times faster with 90% less water. They partner with high end chefs to gain credibility as well and have been doing very well. It shows a commitment to quality and freshness if you are willing to grow things in house as well which improves taste and customer satisfaction. Some chefs have even called Farmshelf the new microwave and people believe it could become more common in households across the world. They already partner with Hilton, Marriott, Twitter, and American Express. Those are just a few of their partners because it is a huge business. The Farmshelf is basically refrigerator that provides everything you need to grow a plant. It periodically waters the right amount based on what kinds of plants you put in it, light for the plants to grow, and even nutrients added to the soil at the right times that they’ve proven to work. It will also alert you when it is time to harvest the seeds you’ve grown and updates through the entire process of growth. It is subscription based so whenever a cycle ends you will be provided with new seeds in order to continue the growth of your “garden.” The optimized LED lighting not only looks good but provides the best possible growth for plants. It is a very interesting concept and something that interests me even though I don’t have a green thumb at all. I look forward to see where their product goes as they partner with more schools and restaurants.
