Everclean: Giving purpose to their employees

What do you think of when you think of a car wash? What immediately comes to my mind is a beat-up crummy establishment that you should probably not go to when the sun goes down. At least that’s what my experience has been. They’re usually free of onsite management and run entirely by high school students that have little regard for the quality of service or product. The founder of Everclean, Thomas Kim, strove to change this perception and reality and he succeeded.

Thomas Kim founded Everclean based on his Christian moral principles. His main goal was to inspire and improve the situation of the working class. Kim accomplishes this through mentorship, economic opportunity, care for the environment, and encouraging contentment in customers.

Kim grew up in less than ideal circumstances and always needed to be scrappy to survive. Through this experience, Kim wanted to provide the means for the working class to be supported economically. Kim made it possible to go from a trainee making $10 an hour all the way up to a district manager making $145,000 a year with a few positions in between to ladder up. The way the job is framed when first starting is to be a “management training” as opposed to an attendant job. This highlights that this is not a dead-end position. That there was growth to be had. Kim continues to grow Everclean and inspire and support the working class and revolutionize the world of cleaning your car and redemptive business.
