In order to have a business that impacts others it is important to make sure it is redemptive. Having a redemptive component to businesses is so important and ultimately helps serve and better people’s lives. Etsy, I have found to be a very neat organization. I have used Etsy since I came to college and always found it to be special due to everything being more so small businesses selling their products on the platform. I always found the products to be of good quality, handmade (usually), and more creative. I love supporting small businesses as it is so it’s dangerous to have this at my fingertips now because I catch myself spending way too much money on it! Anyways, Etsy does really cool things that other platforms don’t.
For starters, Etsy provides a platform for small businesses to sell their products. They usually consist of handmade items and very cool vintage items. Without this platform a lot of these sellers won’t be able to reach the people they do or even have much of a storefront. However, Etsy supports them in this endeavor by making it possible for them to do so. This also makes it so small business have a better chance of succeeding and making sales.
Additionally, Etsy is structured in a way that it develops a sense of community. On this platform the people buying and selling have similar interests and in order to purchase the products there has to be communication between the buyer and the seller. You individually message the seller about their product and personalization’s that need to be made. You are able to access things such as different sellers and buyers’ profiles to learn more about them. You also can look at the reviews people leave and interact with others. It fosters an environment for people to interact and communicate with each other. This in the end helps connect other people to each other around the world and makes relationships that wouldn’t be there without it.
Lastly, Etsy helps promote creativity. This platform helps promote individual craftsmanship and self-expression that other places don’t encourage as much. Furthermore, this promotes culture and the significance of traditional crafts and other items that would be lost due to the mass-produced culture that we have today and encourage. Overall, Etsy has made a redemptive impact in more ways than one and has made a place for small businesses to have the opportunity to prosper and succeed.
