Community Kitchen Pittsburgh
I saw this prompt and thought of looking into a local example of redemptive entrepreneurship that I can observe. I came across the Community Kitchen Pittsburgh and did some research into it. After looking into their website and reading from those who have worked there, I found that this is the perfect example of redemptive entrepreneurship. The Community Kitchen Pittsburgh is a non-profit dedicated to transforming lives through food. Established in 2013, the Community Kitchen Pittsburgh offers various services such as culinary training, job placement, and food to those with trouble facing employment.
Since the Comunity Kitchen Pittsburgh’s establishment in 2013, they have helped nearly 500 community members complete its programs and gain stable employment in Pittsburgh in the food industry. This organization truly exemplifies how redemptive entrepreneurship can serve a community and leave a positive impact. The Community Kitchen Pittsburgh believes that everyone has the potential to do well and succeed regardless of their past. They aim to meet those in need andand guide them towards stable, new positions in the food industry. They provide all programs at no cost to participants, removing any financial barriers.
Something to note from The Community Kitchen Pittsburgh is that they hold Lenten Fish Fry Fridays. This is a season event where the Community Kitchen Pittsburgh serves their voted best in Western Pennsylvania in 2025, hand-battered haddock and various homemade sides. This fundraiser supports the organization’s mission and provides students with experience in the kitchen. The Community Kitchen also has food trucks that drive around Pittsburgh. They aim to showcase the skills and foods their students have learned and made to the community. All proceeds from the food truck get reinvested right back into the organization.
All in all, through the various programs and opportunities that The Community Kitchen Pittsburgh offers, I can say that it is an excellent example of redemptive entrepreneurship.
