Beech Brook is an organization that focuses on helping children and families thrive. The organization believes that all children deserve the chance to grow up in safe and healthy families with the support they need to reach their full potential. They provide a wide range of programs ranging from child abuse prevention, education and early intervention to community and home-based treatment programs for at-risk children and families.
The story started in 1852 when Beech Brook opened its doors as the Cleveland Orphan Asylum. They started housing 11 children in a house while planning to open a permanent building. The first true home opened in 1855 with room to house 50 children. The organization continued to expand and in 1955, as awareness grew of the need to provide mental health services to the children now coming into care, the agency transitioned from an orphanage to a residential treatment center for children with emotional and behavioral problems. Beech Brook launched its first school-based mental health program in partnership with the Cleveland public schools in 1977.
Beech Brook opened a new headquarters in 2024 to bring services to more people to help them thrive. They offer programs ranging from prevention, education, and early intervention to mental health services provided in schools, homes and other community settings. Beech Brook currently has more than 40 participating schools in the school-cased mental health services and has served 10,260 families and children. Additionally, 2,389 children have received mental health and support services which has had a great impact in their lives.
Breech Brook is a redemptive organization with a goal of helping children and families thrive. With all the health issues that people have today, everyday life can be extremely difficult for some people, and Breech Brook hopes to reach those people. They focus on bettering the lives of others, rather than just trying to make a profit. They have impacted many people’s lives and helped them grow and be prepared for their future.
