God as an innovator. This is a sentence that I have not given much thought to until this class. I have always thought of God first as a Father, heart satisfier, lover, grace giver, wisdom originator, and overall Creator; which He is! However, never have I thought of Him as an innovator – but it’s true! I have always paired the word innovation with business in my mind. But to be an innovator means “a person who introduces new methods, ideas, or products.” Our God is the pinnacle of an original content, creative, innovator. Jesus has passion, vision, and inspiration – all essentials to innovation.
In class we discussed the newness of God, as a follower of Jesus I am constantly marveling at the newness Jesus offers us in the cross. As believers, we are made new – born again – the minute we accept Jesus as our personal Savior. As this message is pounded into our heads, it is easy to forget how absolutely radical that is. Newness in Christ is life changing.
There are countless examples in the Bible of God being an innovator; from creation to redeeming his people. Genesis begins the Bible with creation, Isaiah 5 promises the new Israel, new wine is a theme shown in Jeremiah 31:9 and heavily in John 2, a new song is a present theme in the Psalms (90, 149, 33, 40, and 42). At the end of the day, by taking our daily bread we are made new through Him who died to make us whole.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
Newness is a constant, daily gift, and promise offered. Through innovation, and entrepreneurship there are incredible opportunities to use the gifts God has given us, live in the new, and share the Gospel with those around us – glorifying His name.

This idea of being created in Gods image really gives light to fact that we are also creators and innovators. I love the idea that because God is an innovator and creator, and that we were created in His image I also have the capability to innovate and create something that can bring glory to God.

I love this! Yes, I think it is so cool that God created and innovated and decided to give humans the ability to do the same thing. It is just one more reflection of how we are made in the image of God. I think that as entrepreneurs we can create and innovate in any area to reflect and bring glory to the Lord. Great post!
