Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee
The church today is still trying to figure out how to make an impact both locally and globally. Some redemptive ventures are taking this task head-on, making both local and global impact through a single venture. Land of 1000 Hills Coffee is a Christian entrepreneurship business that practices business with a Kingdom impact. This venture was founded after the 1994 Rwanda genocide, in order to transform lives and impact people directly in Rwanda. What this venture does is direct trade with local coffee farmers rather than the traditional supply chain model. The benefit is that it gives farmers higher, more consistent wages. Which, in the long term, helps boost economic independence rather than the short-term financial benefits of the traditional supply chain, which is unreliable and inconsistent. This venture is very redemptive in nature because it is restoring and changing the way in which the economy works to be more opportunistic, stable, and sustainable. In the United States, the Land of 1000 Hills partners with churches and entrepreneurs to open coffee shops that function as more than retail spaces. These cafes serve as community hubs, often hosting Bible studies, small groups, and outreach events. This helps draw people into the church daily and connects the community, which is one of the church’s main goals. Land of 1000 Hills coffee is making its Kingdom impact both globally and locally, supporting farmers and families, the economy, and, locally in the United States, fostering community jobs and opportunities through coffee shops. As many churches and Christian organizations continue to innovate outreach approaches, Land of 1000 Hills Coffee provides a compelling and effective model that can be implemented throughout the United States. This is just one of many examples of how entrepreneurship can be used to advance the mission of the church. It brings people into the Kingdom of glory while also addressing real-world problems that need solutions.
Such a cool coffee shop to read about. I love the heart behind redemptive coffee shops in general, and the mission of Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee in Rwanda is so cool to see. I also love the heart that they have for bringing people into the church and connecting them with the church. This is something so cool about coffee, as it is an easy natural connector for a lot of people in so many ways.
This is a great kingdom impact! I love how they work within two needs: the people of Rwanda and Christian coffee shops.
this is a great way to make an impact in our community as Christians with such a small gesture like coffee.
I really admire that Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee is working to make a difference in Rwanda and in the United States. This creates a really beautiful relationship between the global and the local efforts of the Church.
The direct trade model is such a powerful way to create lasting economic dignity for Rwandan farmers rather than just offering short term relief. Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee shows how a cup of coffee can carry a much deeper story of restoration, community, and Kingdom impact.
