Courageous Girls

Courageous Girls is a non-profit organization that focuses on shaping the next generation of girls by showing them where their identity and worth actually comes from. In our everyday lives, it can be easy to be sucked up and overwhelmed by everything social media tells us. It can also be easy to lose sight of who we are, and where our worth actually comes from when we let social media dictate our lives.

Courageous Girls believe that a young girl’s relationship with her mom can “deeply impact her overall development” and they provide “biblical truth, clinical insight, and relational tools” to “help moms and daughters build confidence, resilience, emotional health, and rooted identity-together in the safety of small, committed groups.” This non-profit was founded by Terr and Jeff Mattson after Terra realized that the mental health resources available were not biblically sound and she wanted to find a way to incorporate discipleship and a way to help younger women navigate life. Courageous Girls is helping to develop more female leaders in the church and also is led by a voluntary advisory board.

Courageous Girls differentiates themselves from their competitors because they’re “rooted in Biblical truth, trauma informed clinical research, and relational wisdom” making it redemptive.

I really like how Courageous Girls are not only impacting just the mother and daughter, but they’re also impacting families, communities, and the world by what they’re doing. I also liked how this program can stretch from 2nd grade up till 12th grade, and how Courageous Girls provides lot of resources for both the mom and the daughter. They offer a sample lesson and a curriculum overview of how the program works and how to incorporate it into our everyday lives. This program is a great opportunity for any mother and daughter who are trying to strengthen their relationships and focus more on being Christ-like.

This is a good example of a company that is spreading God’s love and helping mothers do the same. This program seems like it would be very beneficial for Christian mothers who are seeking help on how to teach their daughters to live a life guided by God.

Hi Hannah! This organization is fascinating. I think perhaps the most interesting thing is the focus on the flourishing of the mother-daughter relationship. It’s so interesting how the organization seeks to help young girls by building the mentorship that the Lord has already set in place.

I love this twofold approach to supporting young girls! Getting parents involved is so important in the spiritual formation of young boys and girls, and it’s wonderful to see an organization involving parents in that experience.
