In the beginning of the Missions of the Church, Becky Hetzer from Hosanna Industries came into our classroom to talk about her work. From that day on, my whole perspective on work and finding meaning in your work has changed. Hosanna Industries is a non-profit company that works with people that cannot afford to have sustainable living and goes in to build and renovate homes for people in need. This may seem like a regular charitable company at the start, but they do all of the work for free. There have been so many lives completely changed without asking for anything in exchange. Not only does Hosanna, which stand for “rescue me now” build homes for free, but they do it in a 24 period!

When asked why Hosanna does what it does, they simply reply, by just wanting to show God’s love through helping others. This is very biblical because Jesus did not go to the rich and higher kings, but he reached the weak and poor. Hosanna Industries is a company that embodies this by doing work that is not always fun and quite difficult. The days are super long, the work is demanding, and there can be many complications throughout the short 24-hour period.

What keeps them going and gives them strength to do what they do is the Lord. They know that all their power comes from God and that is how they are able to do this extremely redemptive work. Learning about Hosanna Industries is something that has really impacted my life and I am extremely thankful to learn about their mission.
