The Daily Entrepreneur

I think a lot of people get caught thinking that they need to start some super big, super impressive company so that you can’t make a difference and really have a redemptive impact. But I think knowing that you can make a difference in little ways is just as important. And there is nothing wrong with wanting and trying to create a large successful company, however, I think we get stuck thinking that is the only way it can be done, and I believe that we can make a difference in small ways even in the midst of the apparent large difference you are trying to make. Ultimately what redemptive entrepreneurship is all about is showing people the wonders and grace of Christ and his Kingdom through creative innovation. And that can be done in the simplest of ways. You can pay for a random person’s meal at a restaurant. You can offer to someone else’s groceries for them, or mow their lawn, or you can go pop-canning, run a small scale side business like show cleaning or anything else and give the profits to someone you know that is struggling. Professor has said before the his church has gone out to simply clean other businesses toilets or do free carwashes. Redemptive impact can come in any number of ways. So while we should always shoot for the stars, dream big, and go for that big venture we’ve always wanted to do, look for the ways that you can show innovative redemptive impact during every day. Something that I need to work on as much as anyone, but it is something that is super important and something I think we would all really benefit from.

  • For starters, I really like how you mentioned that people can get caught up in thinking they have to start very huge to create a successful company, but to start a company, business, or organization, you need to take small steps, pivot, and improve before you can make your dream come true. Another aspect of your article I really enjoyed is how you pointed out redemptive entrepreneurship. Many times, people here that and think it is just about being redemptive in business, but that's not even close. To be an redemptive innovator, you need to dive deep into what God did for all of humanity and truly understand that He loves us enough to die for us. After getting that understanding, then you can take that Grace that God showed us and use it in your business model. Being redemptive takes practice and work, but after you begin to understand the importance of it, You can really use that as an advantage in your business and outcompeting other people. Great article!

  • Great post! I really enjoyed reading your thoughts and ideas about the concept of a daily entrepreneur. It opened my eyes that anyone can be an entrepreneur, it does not always matter the level of success. You can also always be a good steward in ways both big and small. This article is very clear and to the point. It really encourages me to want to be a better entrepreneur in the small ways, so thank you for sharing!

  • I have the same problem as you, I want to start a huge company with huge impact on the world around me, but you made some great points. I also believe that it is easier to create a relationship with individuals when you are on a smaller scale. Jesus sometimes came to one person in his ministry, and I believe the deepest most fruitful relationships were cultivated in these small settings. Something I need to remember as well.

  • Lots of people do think that starting a good act will have to something big. Like it has to grand and ceremonious in order to do an act of kindness. When in reality that is not the case. Just like you said about paying for the meal behind you in a drive-through or mowing a neighbors yard. Showing a little act of kindness can demonstrate God's love in so many ways. It too plants a seed that the Lord will take and grow.
