Today there are many people that turn to the internet to learn.  I find myself constantly using YouTube, a great resource available to learn about anything and everything.  As I grew in my faith and read the Bible more consistently on my own I came across so many terms, phrases, and ideas that I found perplexing that even my parents and voluntary Bible study leaders couldn’t answer.  I had a mentor recommend a YouTube channel to help me along this journey of my faith growth; this channel was the Bible Project.  The Bible project has summary videos of every book of the Bible and breaks down major themes, purposes, and applications to our lives.  As I watched more and more, I found that the Bible Project did more than what it had first done, as they grew in subscribers and donors they expanded what they did. They now publish a weekly podcast, blogs, and dozens more videos on biblical themes, Hebrew/Greek words, and so many more resources that help people grow in their faith on a day to day basis.

The Bible Project states their purpose as “a nonprofit animation studio that produces short-form, fully animated Bible videos and other Bible resources to make the biblical story accessible to everyone, everywhere. We create 100% free Bible videospodcasts, and Bible resources to help people experience the story of the Bible.”  I have used their resources for everything from personal study, studying for tests at school, leading Bible studies, and sharing with friends as we talk about our walk with Christ.  The Bible Project has really met us “kids” where we are.  They have created an innovative way to reach everyone from middle school students just starting off on their own faith journey to the elderly looking to increase their Bible knowledge.  A truly amazing resource that allows people who were not able to go to seminary to get a taste of deep Biblical understanding.

  • Matt, awesome review of the Bible Project! I was not aware of the extent of their work - I had encountered their videos through the ReadScripture app, but didn't know about these other opportunities. They are doing an awesome job of connecting with a culture so heavily influenced by technology.

  • I love how they used their resources to continue to expand. I feel the Christian and secular world often become content in their mission and don't look to broaden their horizons sometimes. The Bible Project recognized they were growing and could expand their reach and touch more lives. This same attitude should be reflected in all ministries. Exponential growth can come from ministries dedicated to pushing their mission.
