The Bible App and Digital Ministry

Up until recently, I had not really used the Bible app. I had my physical Bible, so why would I ever need to open the one on my phone? Yes, it is nice to have constant access to scripture, but if I ever needed an encouraging verse, I would just look up “encouraging Bible verses” on Safari or Google Chrome. It was not that the Bible app wasn’t useful, it was just that I did not know how useful it could be!

Let’s backtrack a little here…I have been curious about the Bible for some time now. I’ve been a believer since I was 4, but I have always felt like I lack deeper knowledge of the Bible despite going to church all my life. I wanted to learn more, but I simply didn’t know where to start. I didn’t know how to ask my small group leaders for help because I didn’t want to seem dumb, so I never did. The curiosity continued.

Okay, fast forward again. I am now a student at Grove City College. I end up meeting my boyfriend and…yada yada insert love story here. We started doing Bible studies together, and one of them, we actually found on the Bible app. Like I alluded to before, I had never really explored the Bible app, so I didn’t know that they had specific types of devotional and study plans. Upon further exploration, I ended up finding a Bible study on the app that I started doing on my own. It was efficient and stress/judgement-free. Using the app makes it easy to find study plans that work for you and allow you to search for some under specific umbrellas, such as anxiety or depression. I have really enjoyed using the app recently, and I think a lot more people would, too, if it were marketed well and more people knew about the awesome features it has.

I love this perspective! It’s so relatable—sometimes we don’t realize how useful a tool is until we actually take the time to explore it. The Bible app really does make studying scripture more accessible, especially with the variety of study plans and devotionals. I appreciate how you shared your journey—it’s encouraging for others who might feel the same way!

I love the Bible App! I feel like I struggle to hold myself accountable on it, but it is a great resource. I really like that there are so many plans right at your fingertips!
