Tegu is a company that is known primarily for their unique wooden building blocks that magnetically stick together, but there is much more behind the story. Tegu is a company, founded by Chris and Will Haughey, in Tegucigalpa Honduras, hence the name “tegu”. Tegu does much more than just sell unique building blocks, they are consciously operating in Honduras so they can help boost their economy by providing work with good pay to many of the people there suffering from poverty and economic scarcity. Though it would be much cheaper and convenient to move somewhere else, Chris and Will have made the decision to stay there, providing abundant opportunities for the people and country as a whole, giving hope where it seemed to be hopeless. This is a story that goes far beyond a great new idea to innovate building blocks, tegu is a creative, redemptive, and very inspiring business that demonstrates that it is very possible to be producing a profit, while benefiting those around you!
