Spring Canyon is a Christian conference center for military families who want to come up to grow closer with God. In all honesty, the conference part of the name is very confusing, because in reality its closer to a Christian Summer camp. Spring Canyon is located in the Collegiate Peaks next to Buena Vista, CO, and has been there since it was founded in 1962. The camp is ran by the OCF, aka the Officers Christian Fellowship, and caters specifically to Christian military families, yet all are welcome there. They have dozens of programs, one of the most notable being Father Teen Adventure, a week long experience for fathers and teens to come up and go through a program to become closer and develop their relationship to God through nature hikes, rock climbing, and other outdoor experiences. The normal experience though is for a group of families and guests to arrive each week, and have devotionals taught by new guest speakers each week, and doing different activities each week to unwind and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. The camp is named Spring Canyon because of it’s famous spring, which has some of the cleanest water in the country. This spring is used in lessons concerning the living water. Having worked at the camp myself, I can attest that it truly is the best water I have ever had, and that the title of cleanest water in the country is well earned. The camp prides itself on being for many a home away from home, and in all their services and staff they try to demonstrate this and truly make it a home away from home for guests. I love Spring Canyon so much, it means a lot to my family and it means a lot to me. Having been there as both a guest and as am employee 3 summers, going on 4, I can truly say that it has helped me grow in my relationship with the Lord and truly is one of the best redemptive businesses out there.
