RW Supply + Design is a wood-flooring distributor that not only sells bundles of flooring to contractors in several store locations in the Midwest, but also plans to solve the orphan crisis in Cambodia. Through being an intern at RW last summer, I was able to clearly see how the whole company started out of the desire to leave a redemptive impact. From the day of founding, The Master’s Craft (one of two sister companies later merged to form RW Supply + Design) served to raise money for missionaries to go out and proclaim the good news of Christ. As the company grew and opened new locations in multiple cities, the vision for this type of charitable work continued to expand.
In recent years, throughout the merge of The Master’s Craft and Real Wood Floors, the new company CEO Sam Cobb has made it his vision to solve the Orphan Crisis in Cambodia. While many companies openly proclaim their initiatives to contribute to issues revolving around world poverty, very few have a practical means of doing so. However, RW has calculated the amount of money it will take to solve the Cambodian orphan crisis and plans to give that full amount. While this will take time, RW has found a way to contribute to a much greater cause.
What stands out most with RW is the combination of a heartfelt goal as well as the persistence to accomplish that goal. Very few companies have both specific goals in relation to their initiatives in addition to the willingness to take the time to solve one issue in particular. However, RW has found a specific need that they are willing to contribute towards through simply selling enough wood flooring to make that goal possible. As a multi-million dollar company, RW cares so much more about the mission than their own gratification in financial success.
