McDonald’s is definitely not the first company that comes to mind when considering redemptive companies, but their Ronald McDonald House Charities begs you to reconsider. McDonald’s is, without a doubt, the most successful and largest fast-food restaurant around the globe. The amount of land that they occupy with the amount of restaurants they have is remarkable. They are known for their food, but many forget their charity organization.
RMHC (Ronald McDonald House Charities) is a foundation that supports people globally for many different causes. What RMHC loves to focus on, however, is children. RMHC started with the mission to provide for families with sick children. They have three primary outlets of support: the Ronald McDonald House, the Ronald McDonald Family Room, and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
First, the Ronald McDonald House’s purpose is to provide housing for families who have to travel far to receive care for their children. They are offered home-cooked meals, private bedrooms, and the support of the staff and other families. McDonald’s has been able to create more than 380 of these programs worldwide. Second, the Ronald McDonald Family Room is a space in the hospital for caretakers to rest and reconnect with their children. There are currently over 265 of these worldwide. Third, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a mobile unit that provides medical, dental, and healthcare resources to underserved communities. Currently, there are 40 of these worldwide.
McDonald’s has provided resources and care to people through their remarkable amount of reach worldwide. They offer customers the opportunity to donate to RMHC with every purchase, and McDonald’s donates a portion of their earnings to help RMHC grow its reach. Though McDonald’s is not the first redemptive company that comes to mind, its work with the RMHC has made a lasting impact on many lives and has reached individuals worldwide.
Ronald McDonald House has really shown how they care about people as a whole and are willing to go the extra mile to help out who they can. You really showed this through what you shared. Since we can understand what they do we can appreciate them a lot more.
The Ronald Mcdonald House is a classic. They are timeless in their organization and how they help kids across the nation and beyond. I remember going to one as a kid in Hershey and thinking it was awesome. My friend that I went to see his family had a room and meals provided to them for while he was in the hospital. I think it is a great program that is creating a lot of impact in the community.
This is a great post I feel like sometimes we look at large companies and ignore the good that they are doing with the resources that they have. It is cool to see that being highlighted here and I wonder if faith plays a role in this somehow.
