In the small business world, I have seen a number of different stores with a redemptive aspect. One in particular is called Lofty Momma. It is a small country store in south central PA where my parents live. The store itself sells things such as books, clothes, candles, and more. The store has clear redemptive aspect to it. When you first walk in, there is always gospel music playing. A large number of the books that are sold there are devotionals. The target audience is tailored more so to females although they do have a men’s section. They have recently opened up a small Amish run coffee shop up top that is still part of their business. I have always found this shop very inspiring as it gives an opportunity for people to be in a Christian environment even if they may not be Christian. When we think of retail stores, more often than not we do not think of them as being redemptive. They are merely just a place for us to go and buy things we need. The cool part about this small business and other is that it shows there is an opportunity to go beyond just retail.
