Pixie Scout Canteen is seeking to redeem the food service industry through hospitality. Their mission is cultivating “a collaborative team of food and hospitality professionals creating and sharing food and beverage provisions in service of transformative and joyful food experiences.” I love how they seek to have a redemptive form of service in their culture as a team and in their preparation of the food, and in their service of the food to the surrounding community. They are seeking to provide farm fresh tastes to the streets of Brooklyn which is so amazing. They talk about stewardship, service, and sovereignty. As Christians stewardship and service are so important because God has called us to be stewards of His gifts that He has given to us. Additionally, we are called to be servants as Christ has demonstrated. I love their model and the fact that they are growing, sticking to their mission and goals, strengthening their team, and growing their community.
Pixie Scout Canteen is a wonderful, missional, and redemptive venture. Also, I loved hearing from Katy McNulty, the founder, speak about her heart and passion for food and beverage service as well as hospitality. God is using her in her profession and it is encouraging and exciting to see and hear about.
I loved hearing her story when she spoke to the class and to see how God has used her. I think that they’re going to do amazing things in New York and eventually spread to other areas! I loved that they’re “re-vamping” the food service industry by focusing on hospitality and giving people a great experience.
As someone who worked in fast food for a time, I am really inspired by the vision they have for their business culture. Lots of restaurant workers are treated poorly and unfairly, and I think Pixie Scout will stand out among the crowd of restaurants, similar to Chick-fil-a. This Christian view of culture is desperately needed, especially by those in NY (as someone who lived in NY).
This is a great business to highlight redemptively. Pixie Scout Canteen has a great story that Katy McNulty shared and it is an excellent redemptive entrepreneurial idea. Their new idea of dealing with food in a new way and presenting it in a new way and spreading the gospel is an excellent idea. Their products are very unique, natural, and organic and it has a very good reputation in New York and their online catering site as well. It’s just another great example of how as an entrepreneur, you can make the world a better place in ane innovative way while also presenting it redemptively to better the people.
