You may or may not recognize the name of the NBA hall of fame member, former GM of both professional basketball and baseball teams, and author of more than 100 books (yes, I did say that correctly… 100+ books). He was also a founding member of the Orlando Magic NBA team. In many of Pat’s books you can see his entrepreneurial spirit in his pursuit of developing and creating teams, his many interviews with some of the biggest names of the 20th and 21st century, and his pursuit to change people through leadership. It is amazing to see this man also take a perspective of Christ in it all. He utilizes Jesus in many of his leadership examples in his book Leadership Excellence.
Pat takes his writing and forms it to meet many different demographics where they are at. As a 79 year old he is still able to contextualize the gospel and the style of life we are called to live to teenagers and young adults. Pat somehow finds a way to contextualize the gospel alongside the stories of many non-Christians in many of his books and leadership principles. I think Pat might be one of the best people at this that i have ever read. He truly has lived life to the max, a life that any person longs to live, and shows people how Jesus is at the center of it.
I’d recommend any of his books, but I do think Leadership Excellence is the best read of them all.
