Memphis is facing a major job crisis and local law makers and residents have been trying to fix the deficient. The U.S. Census’ American FactFinder reported only about 40,000 people hold two-year associate degrees, a certificate considered a key step into middle-class jobs. Meanwhile, 68,000 never completed high school, an additional 141,000 attended but have not completed college and 170,000 high school graduates never attended college (195,000 hold bachelor’s or advanced degrees). So the local churches started coming together to figure out ways to boost the economic prosperity. One church in particular, Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church encourages economic development in surrounding low-income neighborhood by holding weekly minimalls in their church parking lot. Mississippi Boulevard Church helps minority businesses and entrepreneurs sell their products and network with one another. The church also runs an annual Trade Expo. The Church is booting the economy and raising the standard of living. The church main goal was to go out and connect to Gods people who need it the most. Boulevard Church is serving Gods people while increasing the economy. Slowly the church is helping redirect children back to education and help business owners and entrepreneurs make a stable living and find work all through preaching Gods word and reminding the less fortuante that God is indeed working in their lives and is always there.
