Christianity in business

Integrating Christianity into the Business Realm

When thinking about economics, business, and work in general, people tend to only put their focus on the physical aspect and forgo the spiritual side, but not for the company named Institute for Faith, Work & Economics. This company has a laser focus on ensuring that people view their work in a spiritual way and not just as a form of making money. This company puts the spotlight on the importance of work as being understood in the sense of decision making and having a spiritual attitude toward the work that people are pursuing. As a non-profit Christian company, the Institute for Faith, Work & Economics is devoted to three core ideals that shape the way the company is run and these ideals are freedom, fulfillment, and flourishing. These three key elements not only pave the way for the company, but help shape the future of the people they help and come in contact with. Lastly, the Institute for Faith, Work & Economics helps bridge faith and work together by researching economic and theological principles that allows Christians to integrate their faith into the workplace. By researching these topics and implementing them into the workplace, Christian workers can ultimately have a better outlook on their work and know that they aren’t just laboring for wages.

In closing, I believe this company has grown to be extremely successful due to their willingness to integrate faith and business. Not many companies will spend time or even do research to blend the Christian faith with everyday work because they believe they should be separated. From the core values, the mission statement, the vision statement, and statement of faith, the Institute for Faith, Work & Economics has shown that they are not afraid to teach other Christians to demonstrate their faith in the workplace

Below is the Core Values, Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Statement of Faith for the Institute for Faith, Work & Economics

  • Mission Statement: “Is to educate and inspire Christians to live out a Biblical theology that integrates faith, work, and economics.”
  • Core Values: Freedom, Fulfillment, and Flourishing
  • Vision Statement: “We love helping Christians find joy and purpose in their work as they participate in God’s redemptive mission. Whether you’re a business executive or a barista, a scholar or a student, a pastor or a layman, what you do matters to God. And how you do it can bring a spark of hope to a dark world.”
  • Statement of Faith: We affirm our belief in historic Christianity as revealed in the Scriptures and summarized in the Apostles and Nicene Creeds.
