In-N-Out Burger

In-N-Out Burger

In-N-Out burger is a wide range fast food chain that many know and love. This chain is actually a Christian brand and they show this through many obvious and subtle cues. The owner of In-N-Out burger, Lynsi Snyder, lost her father at a very young age and has gone through three failed marriages. Lynsi says that these trials are actually what pushed her towards the Christian faith. One of the most obvious ways that customers identify In-N-Out burger as a Christian organization is through the bible versus printed on the cups. All In-N-Out cups have John 3:16 printed on them. While printing a verse on a cup may seem like a small detail, it has actually made a big impact on customers as many can’t help but notice this hint to Christianity. In-N-Out burger aims to create a caring environment with quality food that people will take notice of. Some people got mad at the company when they found out that they were donating money to a republican organization but the company has stayed true to it’s Christian roots and continues to grow and flourish. I have never been to an In-N-Out burger but I would love to go and support the company sometime. When well known companies take stances against the societal norm, it can be scary and dangerous but we are called to be salt and light to the world. We are called, as Christians, to bring the good news to all, not just those proclaiming the faith. In-N-Out burger does a great job of taking something simple, like a fast food restaurant, and using it for redemptive purposes. Being a Christian is more than just a verse on a cup. The simplest way someone can experience the love of Christ first hand is in the way you treat them and this is a perfect opportunity for all businesses to use the marketplace in a way that demonstrates the love of Christ to others.

  1. It is great to hear about how In-n-Out has a redemptive purpose in putting John 3:16 on their cups and establishing a restaurant culture where the love of Christ is evident throughout the whole company. Though they rebel against societal norms through being so open about their Christian values, it also provides the opportunity for non-believers to consider the hope that Christ brings as they are invited the consider the good news of the Gospel.

  2. Hi!
I think you did a great job with your post! Like you, I have never been to In-N-Out Burger. I would love to go to experience the food and read the Bible Quote on the cups. You are right! This company has taken something as simple as fast food, something that people eat every single day, sometimes multiple times a day, and turned that into a redemptive way to spread the good news. I found the story behind In-N-Out very encouraging. Sometimes God puts us through very challenging trials in life, but we have learned to lean on God and come out of our struggles better than ever. Thank you for sharing this story! I hope to try their food sometime!

  3. Hi!
I think the story of this company’s owner is so impactful. It is also hard to create a brand with Christian-like values, let alone endorse Christianity openly. The bible verse on the cups is a really cool idea and could be a conversation starter about faith. There are so many societal norms that this company is conquering. This is really cool!
