I Have a BEAN isn’t your average coffee company, they just don’t provide award winning coffee, but forgiveness and fresh start. I Have a BEAN, “is roasting and delivering the highest quality, organically grown, fairly-traded coffee in a sustainable supply chain from crop to cup. Our purpose is to offer post-prison people the opportunity for a fresh start and a new life”. I Have a BEAN is giving fresh starts to those who have often been forgotten and looked down upon. They are serving those who God says we should serve, those who are at the bottom and those who are less fortunate. I Have a BEAN gives those who have served time in prison a fresh start. They want those who have served a prison sentence to serve a fresh cup of coffee. God calls us to always serve others and to forgive. God is the king of everlasting love and forgiveness, and we should strive to follow in his footsteps. In the Gospel Jesus forgave the woman who was being about to be stoned for adultery, He gave her a second chance. Jesus brings mercy and love to those who need it the most, prisoners need it the most but often are not given the love and forgiveness they need.   Most employers look upon ex felon records with disgust and turn them away without knowing anything of their work ethic and character. Jesus died for every single person, every person as sinned and turned away from God. By Jesus dying on the cross He gave each person a chance with mercy by sacrificing Himself so that we all could have eternal life in heaven. I Have a Bean is expressing Gods never ending mercy through giving the redemption, and love Jesus came down and showed us. The company is going against the grain in the most subtle of ways, helping to spread Gods love within the broken world.

  • This is such an awesome business idea. Most companies would never consider hiring someone post-prison but this company is completely changing that dynamic. By giving them a fresh start and a purpose, they are not only helping out that one person, they are also helping grow the community as a whole. thanks for sharing!
