Hobby Lobby is an arts and crafts chain that has over 500 stores across the country. They are a business that does not hide their beliefs but instead they fill their stores with Christian inspired decorations and messages. The company’s mission statement reads, “Honoring the Lord in all we do by operating the company in a manner consistent with biblical principles.” With companies as simple as an arts and crafts store, they have managed to spread the word of God and stand firm in their beliefs.
Hobby Lobby’s founder, David Green, has stated that he has built his business built on Biblical principles, which is a large influential factor for the business. Hobby Lobby dedicates half of their pretax earnings to go to a multitude of evangelical ministries.
With the recent government push to have businesses support their employees in receiving emergency contraception procedures, Hobby Lobby had tried to sue the government because of their strong disagreement of this practice. Although the Bible does not state directly that this is a sinful action, there are many statements on how we are to protect his creation. Hobby Lobby had battles to fight with this issue but they stuck it out and did the best they could.
