In 1970, David and Barbara Green creatively began making frames. This small frame “business” did not last long until they opened up the first ever Hobby Lobby store in Oklahoma City in 1972. Hobby Lobby quickly expanded and rapidly advanced in the number of products sold in their stores. Since the start of their business, the Green’s always emphasized Christian values and standards for their employees and the ways they interacted with their customers. There are a few ways in which Hobby Lobby clearly promotes Biblical ideas. Each store plays worship music which provides a peaceful shopping experience for each customer that enters the store. Along with worship music, Hobby Lobby sells art and products that clearly portray the gospel and Biblical ideas.

Hobby Lobby is a great example of a Redemptively minded business as it seeks to promote the gospel through the songs they play and the products they sell. Hobby Lobby beautifully combines the gospel and a well-run business. The business serves both as a company that seeks to please their customers through high quality products, and also serves as a ministry that seeks to serve each and every customer with dignity, respect, and the love of God.

In all my experiences at Hobby Lobby, I have yet to experience poor service, and low-quality products. Each employee has been helpful and willing to serve me in any way they can. I have personally seen the redemptive side of Hobby Lobby’s business through the worship music played in the stores, and the customer serve from the store’s employees. I am confident that many people outside the faith have witnessed the love of God through Hobby Lobby’s business. After researching Hobby Lobby’s mission and vision for their company, I will definitely continue to shop there and support the company.
