God the Father Apparel is a newer clothing brand founded in October 2019 by Drew Urquhart a Vancouver native with a mission. Drew was a man on a mission coming out of College to spread the gospel and decided that an apparel brand would be a good way to spread the gospel. He was a marketing major and worked on the project while at a marketing agency that allowed him to do so.

When Covid-19 hit Drew quit his job to go all- in on his clothing brand. When the brand started to take off, he was printing shirts in his house just to keep up with the demand. He said that the greatest challenge was overcoming the overhead of creating a supply chain  for a physical product, something that was new to him in the business world.

Drew’s business has been very successful so far, “the company generated almost half a million dollars, leading to its recent expansion from his home to a warehouse in Chinatown”. His goal was to fill a gap in the market, provide a subtle way to share faith: he said “I wanted there to be a way for a Christians, like myself, to be able to express my faith without coming across as pushy or starting that awkward conversation where Christians or Catholics are called to express their faith and to tell other people about Jesus and God”.

He works mainly as a one man team using tech such as, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to design his apparel. Drew described how his pickiness can be one of his greatest tools but also one of his greatest set backs. It is hard to find good outsourcing partners “which is an important part” he said, “I never think anything is good enough”. He has been making good head way regardless expanding the options available in his store with regular updates.

It is super cool to see a company like God the Father Apparel really creating waves and getting traction across the country. Drew’s company oozes inspiration for other young Christians seeking to create impact through their own creativity but perhaps fear a negative response from friends family or the general public, Drew’s, im sure had its haters but it rose above that. What he appreciates teh most about his company is when he gets texts or emails that tell a story of how his brand, God the Father Apparel, started a conversation about God.
