All around the world there are people hungry for food with no resources to get it. These people are living uncertain of where their next meal will come from. Feed my Starving Children seeks to change that. They are a nonprofit organization that runs off of volunteers to come in and pack bags of food that would then be shipped out to various different third world countries. While Feed My Starving Children is a Christian organization, they share the desire to help people in need with those who are not    Christian as well and because of that they are getting more people on board to help. Each meal that they make costs less than 25 cents, so they can provide several meals even from a small donation. So how exactly does this work? People or groups can volunteer for a time slot at one of their locations. At the beginning of their time they will be able to taste the food that they will be packaging and see a presentation about what they do and who they are helping on that specific day. Then the group will begin packing a variety of different ingredients like rice and veggies and protein into bags and put them into boxes. Feed my starving children makes it a competition between the different packing stations so that they package the most amount of food possible for a given time slot. At the end of the packing period everyone goes into their warehouse and prays over the food that was just packaged as well as the lives that will be touched by it. It is an incredibly humbling experience but it is also fun. Most people will go back at least one or two more times. Feed My Starving Children is making a large difference in the lives of many people around the world, and if you are given the chance to participate you definitely should.

  • Wow this seems like an awesome organization!! I love how they have competitions to see who can package the most food because it allows volunteers to have fun while doing work. Feed My Starving Children has a great redemptive impact and are truly trying make a difference in the world. :)

  • Awesome organization! I really appreciate how down-to-earth they are. They are a good example of how you don't need to be a big, expensive business to do the right thing. You can even get together and serve in a gym! (evidenced by your picture :) )

  • Its crazy that meals can only be made for a quarter! This is a great organization and I wonder how they are dealing with the COVID-19 crisis.
