Entreprenuership and the Local Church

Entreprenuership and the Local Church

In the attached video Chris Horst, the vice president of development at Hope International, talks about what it means to put together entrepreneurship and the local Church. One of the first things that Chris does is he defines what he thinks of as entrepreneurship as, “Seeing an unmet need and using the abilities given to us by God to respond to that need”. This could lead you to create many things such as a good, product, or service.

Christ then goes into the idea of pastors helping to break down the “sacred secular divide” in their churches. Many people in the church think of their jobs as a necessary evil because they do not see any good in what they are doing aside from the fact that it gives them money to help provide to the good work going on in their Church. In order to combat this idea in people’s minds Chris recommends that pastors go and see members of their Church while they are in their work place to see what it is they are doing and help them affirm the fact that what they are doing is good and can be helpful in the building of the kingdom of God.

  1. Unfortunately, many people see work as a burden, but Christians should see it as a giving to God and we should work as though we are working for the Lord.
