Empowering the Church to Serve the Most Vulnerable

Empowering the Church to Serve the Most Vulnerable

World Relief Atlanta, a non-profit organization, is on a mission to empower the local Church to serve the most vulnerable – refugees and immigrants. Their vision throughout their organization is to not only provide these people with economic, social, and spiritual change, but to also partner with the local Church in doing that, which sets them apart from many of the other refugee/immigrant organizations. By partnering with the local Church, they’re not only building community for these people outside of themselves, but they’re giving them a love that’s fueled by God’s love first.

World Relief Atlanta values setting a right example of who Jesus is by using the local Church as a “primary agent of bringing peace, justice, and love to a broken world” that’s filled with people of all uniqueness. Their programs are offered at a continuous excellence to ensure that change is ensuing within the lives of the people they’re serving. In order to upkeep a continuous excellence, World Relief Atlanta is intentional about their collaboration “among all stakeholders, including local governments, the worldwide church, mission agencies, other NGO’s, and the business community,” because they believe that partnership is an essential key to their excellence and success. Though their mission plan seems to be perfect on paper, World Relief Atlanta recognizes that none of what they do would matter or potentially work if their mission didn’t rest on the power of prayer, which they emphasize as a crucial foundation to their mission.

  1. This is such an awesome idea to bring in local Churches to help show these refugees God’s love right in the local community! I am sure this sparks a lot of the refugees interest into who Jesus is and why these people are treating them differently and showing them so much love.

  2. I absolutely love this! God calls us to take care of the widows, the orphans, and those in need, and they are certainly doing their part while also bringing the life changing Savior to these people in need.

  3. I believe the church tends to go for the “not totally broken” type of people and we know that Jesus was not this way at all. He met with tax collectors and prostitutes and no one was low enough to not receive his salvation.

  5. I love to see this type of thing. God is calling them to take care of those in need. This is great to see especially in an area that is surrounded by much poverty like Atlanta.
