Connections Homes

Connections Homes is an amazing ministry that identified a need in the world and is working to provide help. About 85,000 young adults between the ages of 18-24 are living their life with no adult or family connection. What is this young adult group to do when they need support, when they are sick, when they need to make their first resume? Connections Homes has created a way to connect families with this young adult population in need of help. When you go on the Connections Homes website, they do a really amazing job of showing you many different statistics; 70% of trafficking victims come from a background of foster care, 81% of boys aging out of the foster care system will spend time in jail and the most common reason is for a survival crime, 71% of girls aging out of the foster care system will get pregnant within one year, 97% of young adults aging out of the foster care system will find themselves in chronic poverty. By putting these statistics on the front page of the website, the reader can’t help but feel for this population in need and want to help. In a lot of ways, Connections Homes mission speaks for itself so explaining the problem they are helping is enough to get support. Connections Homes has redemptive impact because they are acting in ways that Jesus acted. We see in scripture that Jesus was also helping those in need and being a support to those with no support system. Connections Homes has created a way to mirror the beautiful way that Jesus comes in and saves us with families that come in and provide, even if it’s in small ways. In order to be a support family, you have to go through a process of application and training and background checks. I think it is important to have a rigorous application process to ensure that the families applying are helping for the right reasons and truly have a heart for this unreached population. Overall, Connections Homes is an amazing ministry with a mission that reflects the love of Christ and aims to bring support and safety to a forgotten population that is in need.
