In West Los Angeles Church of God in Christ runs a community-development corporation that aims at “economic empowerment” of the poor and needy in its community backyard. Church of God in Christ community-development includes job training and entrepreneurial development, and it also partners with major corporations and businesses to provide employment for neighborhood residents. Another thing Church of Christ has done is, “developed 400 new affordable housing units, secured $3 million in equity to finance a 45,000 square foot commercial complex; secured $3.2 million in equity to finance 110 newly constructed homes; trained over 1,500 young people in the art of mediation and dispute resolution by nonviolent measures; fed and clothed thousand of people in need and has helped to launch several dozen new viable minority-owned businesses” with partnering with West Angles Community Development. Through helping their neighborhood, Church of Christ has boost the local economy, small business, and help residents get off the streets. Spreading the word of God and boosting the area has brought more members to the Church and fulfilled helping the children of God.
