Christ and the Coronavirus

As we are all aware, there is a current world concern with the coronavirus; but did you know that there are multiple strains of coronaviruses? For example, SARS and MERS are a more common form of a coronavirus and is mostly associated with respiratory problems. As of now, this new form of a coronavirus, COVID-19, has infiltrated every continent except Antarctica; and what a more perfect way to bring people to Christ.

Take for example the people in Wuhan, China where the virus first originated, they currently are having the highest number of deaths and infected and are in need of comfort and support. The Bible and Christianity, in general, are not entirely welcome in China, but that does not mean that the people are not willing to listen. Sometimes it takes chaos or a disaster to bring people to the gospel.

  • I think this is a great idea! I would love to hear more about how you propose to do this? How difficult would it be to travel to there? Any suggestions on first steps?

  • Find a need and fill it. This is just a different way of looking at things I love it. I have recently heard so many sermons focused on the idea of fear and specifically tailored to the Corona Virus. I love to see people capitalizing on such a discouraging event.

  • This is an outstanding idea. I'd be curious to know how many churches have already begun to start sending missionary doctors overseas to try and win over those that are lost. All things are done with purpose.

  • I have heard of several Christian groups native to Wuhan who are using this as an opportunity for ministry. They deliver food, supplies and Bibles and then take time to pray with the people there.

  • We should definitely take advantage of this poor situation and turn it into a way to reach people and tell them about Jesus.
