Chick-fil-a
I want to talk about Chick-fil-A today because in this course the main topic of conversation is how businesses run their companies from a redeemed, Christ-minded perspective. I thought, what better business to talk about than one that makes a significant amount of money, because I believe it is through their obedience to the Lord that Chick-fil-A has been blessed. Chick-fil-A was originally created in 1946 by a man named S. Truett Cathy, and this is where the redemptive side of things comes into place. S. Truett Cathy was raised in a Southern Baptist home, which shaped his faith and gave him a redemptive mindset. One of the biggest biblical principles that Chick-fil-A follows is resting on the seventh day. This is something the Lord commanded us to do, just as He Himself rested after creating the earth. There are other things that stand out to me, and to so many others, and that is the hospitality we see at every Chick-fil-A. Once again, God’s Word tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves, which is why I believe Chick-fil-A makes roughly 21 billion dollars a year, while other fast-food restaurants make less money over more time. I believe the Lord blesses obedience, and S. Truett Cathy modeled this through his business. To this day, Chick-fil-A continues to grow annually, not only in their sales, but also in the number of people who support them. About 71% of people who decide to visit Chick-fil-A for the first time choose to come back, which is higher than the majority of fast-food restaurants. I wholeheartedly believe this is the blessing of God on this franchise.I think there is one final takeaway from looking at this business, and that is this: our number one goal is not to make money, but to honor the Lord in absolutely everything we do. When He blesses us, we give Him all the glory and praise that He deserves.
The fact that people value this buisness mainly because of there foundation on Christian values says a lot about there overall value proposition.
