Chick-Fil-A was founded by S. Truett Kathy as a brilliant and missional business that seeks both to please customers through efficient and strategic customer service and seeks to spread the love of God in the way they care for and serve each person who steps foot in their store, and those who pass through their drive through. It is not hard to recognize immediately how rare and special the customer service is at Chick-Fil-A because each worker is expected to treat each customer with dignity, respect and honor. As a believer, it is easy to point out the fact that the Chick-Fil-A customer service is unique and special and is clearly missional and Kingdom seeking. The Chick-Fil-A mission statement clearly displays the fact that they seek to use all that the Lord has blessed His people with as a gift and blessing to those who step foot in their stores, while also fulfilling the call of the Lord on our lives to pursue and love on those we come in contact with. The most memorable part of Chick-Fil-A’s customer service is the response “my pleasure.” This phrase was purposely chosen as a way to communicate to their customers that it is a joy to serve them. Not many fast-food restaurants have extraordinary customer service which is why Chick-Fil-A sticks out to so many people. Although the world continues to lean further away from the truth of the gospel, and becomes more secularized, Chick-Fil-A has chosen to stay true to who they are amidst the temptations of the world as they continue to treat others with respect and love. Chick-Fil-A’s missional outlook and gospel perspective is both a brilliant business idea, but also an obedient behavior and beautiful example of God’s calling on our lives as a disciple of Jesus.
