The task of this blog post is to share and report redemptive business or acts from churches. I have been successful in posting other blogs for this class to check the box and get the completion grade. However this semester I am challenging myself to put real effort into this work as a blogger. Therefore, I have reviewed a church friend of mine who has recently started an online business called budding.creationss. This will be a three-post series of a young entrepreneur sharing her ideas, thought process, hopes, and views on the making and selling Christian designed t-shirts.
Meet Chloe Hartman, an 18-year-old freshman in college diver somewhere in California. I have known Chloe for about 4 years now. She and her family currently live in Alaska and have the heart to serve the Lord. One Christmas, Hartman’s mother gifted her a Cricut. This is a product that allows one to make and paste their designs onto most objects, more specifically ones with fabric, like pillows, hats, and Hartman’s favorite, shirts. Hartman never really saw herself as a graphic designer, only that she enjoyed making beautiful doodles. With the Cricut, she got the spontaneous idea of putting them on shirts, and see where it would go.
The goal of her product was to create conversation starters, so people would ask questions about the words on the shirt. This would eventually lead to a potential opportunity of sharing the gospel. She says she normally chooses personal verses and adds a universally relatable design. The process is long and tedious from ideation to creation and finally to sending out. The example on the left is a screenshot from her Instagram. This one is called God is withing her. This was inspired by Psalm 46:5 which says, “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.”(ESV).

This is such an interesting story! I love how God uses the “unwitting” people. Chloe’s the perfect example of someone not looking to begin a ministry-oriented business, but the Lord used her anyway. These are my favorite kinds of stories, where one door leads to another and another until people find themselves with a full-blown ministry. Awesome post!
