Bread of Life

Bread of Life

Bread of life is a Christian ministry that brings warmth and comfort into the hearts and stomachs of those without homes in Pittsburgh, PA. Before I came to college, my family and friends served there once a month. We would prepare a hot meal, and then at a scheduled time, people who needed a hot meal could come inside and get them in to-go boxes or sit down and enjoy some fellowship and food.

The man who runs Bread of Life started it because he saw a need in his community and wanted to help fix the problem. Especially in big cities like Pittsburgh, it is very common for there to be a lot of people in need of a hot meal. Even though he may not consider himself an entrepreneur, I see his entrepreneurial skills through his actions. He was in an area that was in need, and he took action.

Bread of Life may not be run through a church, but during the dinner meetings we talk about Jesus Christ and how he has impacted our lives and their lives. This is a chance for us to spread the word of God and thanks to the owner’s willingness to let us help, we are impacting people’s lives.

  1. This seems like an incredible ministry opportunity and cool that you got to serve there as well! All cities need something like this. People have needs beyond just the physical, but providing for those physical needs is a crucial step in delivering a message of Grace to those who don’t know the gospel.
This reminds me of a ministry that I got to serve at once called Sunday Breakfast Mission. They would provide hot meals for people in a small city called Wilmington, DE. This is a great example of redemptive ministry! Thanks for sharing Reagan.

  2. True entrepreneurial spirt, the man who made the business saw a problem in the local community and took the opportunity to make it into something that not only helps out the local community but also has a redemptive aspect to it as well.
