Bolivian Enterprise Provides Hope Amidst Human Trafficking

This week, while talking to one of my professors, the organization SutiSana came up in conversation. SutiSana is a redemptive organization based in Bolivia that shows both how to run a practical business and how to genuinely change someone’s everyday life. They have two different aspects to their business. They have the ministry side of the business that helps to get women out of the sex trade. This is a lot more than simply getting them free. The majority of these women are extremely broken and require mentorship and counseling to recover from the immense amount of trauma that they have faced. This is provided through a number of means, such as connecting the people with a church. The second half of their organization involves giving the women jobs and a sustainable income. If they do not end up having a sustainable job, there are high odds that they are going to get sold back into the human trafficking industry. They have a redemptive based business model and make a ton of beautiful handmade accessories, such as bags and purses. This not only gives these people a job, but it also brings in funding that can be spent back into the ministry organization.
