Have you heard about the groundbreaking television show, “The Chosen”? It’s a crowd-funded series that brings the life of Jesus and his disciples to the screen, becoming the largest crowdfunded media project in history. With over 108 million views and 600 language translations, this show is one-of-a-kind.
My dad introduced it to me when it originally came out back in 2019 and I didn’t take a look at it then. Recently however I’ve been trying to grow in my faith and decided to pick up the show and boy, did I miss out. The show is amazing and a lot of amazing things about it (and I’m not just talking about the episodes). As I will explain, “The Chosen” is a spectacular piece of media in all Departments.
“The Chosen” is publicly funded, with donations, merchandise sales, and a successful multiple-episode box office launch generating $14.4 million. The show creatively combines business and Christian mission, impacting how people experience the Bible.
The series, now in its third season, shows historically accurate and biblical stories in a visually engaging format. Each episode costs approximately $1.2 million, showcasing the magnitude of this endeavor. Viewers can now imagine the characters and the Biblical era, creating a deeper understanding of Jesus’s teachings.
Beyond financing a TV show, “The Chosen” initiated new funding methods, like merchandise sales and box office events. The fusion of creativity and spirituality is the backbone of their success and allows them to further their mission of sharing Jesus’s message worldwide.
