Best Practices in Church Growth, Effective Ministry and Mission

One of the best practices in church growth comes from being involved and engaged with the community surrounding the church. When people see a local church serving the community, they are more willing to try the church since they see examples of the members practicing what they preach, which can not be said for every church. One specific example of this is servant evangelism. Servant evangelism is the practice of going out and serving people, in hopes to user your interaction with them as a means to show God’s love and even share His truth. When interacting with those they serve, people can say the name of the church they are out serving with. This is a tangible way the church can make their presence known in the community, in a positive light. This will pay dividends in terms of church growth, because if a family decides they want to start attending church, and yours is known well in the community, then they will be inclined to try yours, or if someone new to the area is asking around about churches, people will have positive things to say about yours. Another very useful way to grow a church is through youth ministry. If a church is able to put together an enjoyable and useful youth ministry, kids will invite friends outside of the church. If these friends enjoy it, they will either get involved with the church themselves and or invite their families to join. Another thing a church can do, is use their funds to open up a different location in a struggling area, that will bring the gospel, and also support to those around them. This is different than servant evangelism in that, this would be a more organized, consistent, and comprehensive level of support, whereas servant evangelism could be better described as a random act of kindness.
