Alpha Ministries is a redemptively minded organization that equips churches, ministries, and individuals to help others discover a relationship with Jesus. Alpha Ministries estimates that more than a million people in the U.S. have experienced Alpha for themselves in the last three years. Alpha created a learning program for new Christians, questioning Christians, and even seasoned Christians to learn about the essentials of the faith. This mission is non-denominational and just focuses on the biblical basics. The most used form of operation is through churches. Churches can host alpha programs and are equipped with the essential tools to teach these truths. By focusing basics of the Christian faith, Alpha opens the door for evangelism to be used in almost any context. This mission itself is incredibly redemptive, but giving back doesn’t stop there. All of Alpha Ministry’s session prompts, videos, and guides are free of charge. Being primarily funded by donations allows this to be possible. Alpha’s website has many resources like easy-to-follow instructions to get connected with an Alpha group near you, start your own Alpha group, and donate to provide Alpha with resources to keep giving back.
I heard about Alpha through my church as home. Alpha is run by two individuals in my church that wanted to reach more people. With Alpha very openly advertising to new Christians and people that are curious about the faith, it is a program that brings in a lot of traffic to our church. Alpha proves the opportunity for honest conversations and a space for questions that seasoned Christians think are just “common sense”.
Alpha is very redemptively minded in that they create community and help people on their journey to faith.
