A Loss in Christian Conservativism

A Loss in Christian Conservativism

Rush Limbaugh died a few days ago at the age of 70 and many Christian conservatives have mourned his death. Growing up in a family with very strong conservative views and an even stronger faith in God, Rush Limbaugh was a person I often listened to in the car when K-Love was not being played over the radio. He was one of the founding members of talk-shows that tried to combine a religious and political perspectives. Limbaugh expressed his faith quite often on his show even saying this on one of his last days of his show, “I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It is of immense value, strength, confidence and that’s why I’m able to remain fully committed to the idea that what is supposed to happen will happen when it’s meant to.”

His influence was felt by the former administration as well. Former President Donald J. Trump gave Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2020, during which time he received a standing ovation for all of his work.

His influence has had a lasting impact on me as well as many others. His work led me to other Christian talk shows such as Sean Hannity, Michael Knowles, and Andrew Klavan. These individuals have been very important in my own faith and political alignments.  It is with a heavy heart I pray for Rush Limbaugh’s family as they go through this difficult time, but I hope they remember God is still with them and they will see Rush again so long as they are Christians themselves.

  1. It is sad and difficult to hear the loss of a fellow believer, especially one as influential as you say he is. I often listened to K-LOVE when I was younger and was “positively encouraged” when I left the car. Hopefully, future speakers can still be inspired by him and continue his legacy and make it their own, with God as their focue.

  2. I was saddened to hear about Limbaugh’s death, and it was definitely a big blow to the Christian community when they heard the news. He had such an impact on today’s world, and hopefully more people will rise up to continue his legacy and spread the Word of God in the future.

  3. It is very sad to see the loss of someone who has positively influenced the lives of many. Limbaugh was someone who was open about his conservative views and religion. I feel as though many people are nervous to state those same views today because of the fear of how others will react. Hopely we see people continue to step up and go against the flow of what is “popular” to share those same conservative and religious views.

  4. Rush certainly has an interesting legacy, he was by no means a perfect man. I to was saddened greatly by his passing. Growing up, some of my fondest memories are of riding with my Dad in the car and listening to him on the radio. His intro song is still the sound I equate with my childhood more than anything else.
