Army Major Jon Norquist discovered his unique form of art by way of a coffee making accident. Using a malfunctioning coffee pot resulted in spilling coffee on the table, but the unique pattern one day caught the artist’s attention as something to create. This spilled coffee art began on paper, then moved on to an improved canvas form. While not specifically a Christian business, Norquist is able to serve his customers in a redemptive way by offering pieces with a biblical message and themes of goodness. The company also runs frequent promotions giving 25% of earnings to charitable causes. Customers will hopefully become curious about the most important message of the gospel. Beauty in earthly art is a great way to showcase the ultimate creator and point to lasting beauty through eternal life in heaven.

Then to have a Redemptive spin on it with the biblical messages and themes of goodness only increases the niche and uniqueness of the idea. With the added promotion of funding, charitable organizations definitely highlight themselves as a company on the cusp of making a redemptive impact. If only they could harness the Glory of God into their core.
This is an interesting idea that seems like it could really get people’s attention with the common love for coffee and beauty being wrapped in one! With products, like original art, that make significant money, the potential to donate to charitable causes is a great opportunity. Are the causes connected to a specific mission of the business? Maybe an element of scale would be to make the redemptive efforts more established, accompanying the giving with building relationships with the people who have the need. This would assume that the redemptive benefit was going towards people in the community, which is particularly effective if he is trying to build up that area and gain support and mutual respect through the business.
