41 & Change Coffee Co. was founded in the 1990s on accident. They purchased property in Nicaragua to build a brand new Young Life camp and found coffee plants already growing on the property. From accidentally stumbling upon a few coffee plants to having a thirty acre coffee farm, 41 & Change has always been centered around a mission. As mentioned above, 41 & Change was founded on a soon-to-be Young Life camp, so Young Life must be involved.
41 & Change takes most of their profits and puts it towards sending kids in Nicaragua. Additionally, the coffee company has opened its market to other Young Life leaders around the world. This partnership allows Young Life areas to sell coffee and retain some of the profit for their own kids to go to camp, while still supporting this new and exciting business in Nicaragua. 41 & Change is a relatively new business but with a great product and thousands of supporters across the world, they are able to make a major difference in hundreds of kids’ lives every year by introducing them to Jesus at a Young Life camp.
Ha – that’s crazy that 41 & Change was pretty much stumbled upon… I had no idea! I had never heard about this until this year and I actually tried their coffee this semester… I was so impressed. Such a cool company!
Haha that’s crazy. I’m a YL leader and this is so cool it was founded because of funding for camp! It’s so cool that they put most of their profits to sending kids to Nicaragua.
That is incredible. I love hearing about stories where awesome non-profits are formed by accident. Truly, it was God’s intentions for it to be.
