Reaching the Unreached Within Our Borders

Envision Atlanta is a site of the Christian & Missionary Alliance’s Envision ministries, located in Atlanta, Georgia. The Christian & Missionary Alliance’s Envision ministry “identifies and develops missional leaders who innovate, establish, and strengthen communities of faith in key urban environments through short-term trips, internships, leadership development, and ministry opportunities in the Alliance family”. This is one of the many ways the C&MA church strives to be creative and innovative in their approach to spread the Gospel within our country and around the globe.

The Envision site in Atlanta is especially unique. Tens of thousands of refugees from many different countries have settled in Atlanta and surrounding areas. This gives Envision Atlanta a unique position to reach members of their community who also happen to be members of about 90 different unreached people groups! The Envision personnel in Atlanta realize that, after fleeing their home and familiar culture for any number of reasons, many refugee families experience loneliness from a lack of community and difficulty navigating the new culture in America. With this at the heart of their mission, they make it their first priority to build relationships with their refugee neighbors. They believe that every aspect of ministry must be rooted in relationship, so they must get to know and love their neighbors before they can effectively share Christ’s love with them. Envision Atlanta seeks to build relationships by offering a variety of services and activities for refugees in their community, including ESL education, Bible school and educational programs for kids, a mobile thrift store, and more recently, food distribution to families impacted by the pandemic. In Addition, Envision Atlanta is currently in the process of starting a new endevor, Envision Acres Farm, which will serve as an additional way to connect with their refugee neighbors and an opportunity to meet needs, such as food and employment. As they continue to deepen their relationships with refugee neighbors, doors have been opened for the Gospel to be shared and lives have been changed. Envision Atlanta has been able to bring the Gospel to unreached people without even leaving the U.S.
